Ben & Kelly’s Engagement Part 2

Ben & Kelly’s Engagement Part 2!  You can check out part one here:

Invitations made by Jessica!

Invitations are key to setting up a theme for your wedding.  These invitations were hand drawn and made by our good friend Jessica Lamberz!  I don’t know if she has made them for other couples, but if she hasn’t, she should really think about it, because these are amazing.  She is set to be married to Josh Witek June 2, 2012!  We have only known them for a few months but are super excited to see them become one on their wedding day.  We are so glad that they have found each other and can’t wait to see what God has planned out for them in the future!  Love you guys!

Toothbrush and Cologne don’t mix!

Mandy and I thought we were masters at packing.  Somehow we managed to fit both her entire wardrobe and a few shirts of mine into a very large duffle bag.  It was 51lbs to be exact. We don’t pack light thats for sure! ha.  But when they charge you $25 a bag now you have to be smart about how you pack.  That night as we were getting ready for bed we opened our bag to find a very manly smell scamper about the room.  My cologne bottle somehow spilled into everything.  It may sound cool because now I don’t have to put any on, but it was way overwhelming and that totally ruined the fun.  I pulled out my toothbrush and toothpaste and started to clean my money making teeth! Started to yell and make weird sounds.  Mandy asked me what was wrong.  ”My mouth is burning.” I said.  She then started to explain to me that that’s what happens when I don’t listen to her ha.  Later I found out she didn’t do it on purpose but rather my cologne exploded and got into my toothbrush.  It was honestly one of the worst things ever.  The taste stayed with me throughout the night and into the next day.  Advice! Double wrap your Cologne or Perfume in ziplock bags and ship them to your destination when traveling.  Its not worth losing your taste buds over something like this. ha

When I was looking for some pictures of toothbrushes I found some funny things.  I guess we can call this random thursday! Hope your having a great week!

We are in Oregon!!!

Well just so everybody knows….we went to Oregon!!! Gosh it was such a blast! I cannot believe all that beauty is out here and we had not seen it yet. We started our adventure getting on our plane in Fargo, getting to Salt Lake City and finally traveling to Portland; finally getting off the plane and meeting up with Eric, an old friend and colleague of Dereks and going home to meet his family. Michelle(Erics’s wife) is a stay at home mom with 3 beautiful children Josiah, and twin sisters Maile and Savannah. These children have so much character and are sooo funny! We hung out with them for most of the day and eventually ventured out with our awesome GPS’s from Leah Beekman and the Sojka’s (thank you)….without them we would have been completely LOST!

For our first adventure we went to Cannon Beach. We could not believe how TALL the Red Woods are and how many there were just on our way up there! We ran into rain, snow and sleet while traveling up to Cannon. So I was stoked because first off I had never been to Oregon at all..and my first time seeing the ocean! It was a little chilly and windy there (35-45degrees) so we decided to catch some coffee in a little irish coffee house and eat a small breakfast. We made our way to Hebo, OR and kept stopping to catch pictures of the views we saw driving along the beach. Once we got to Hebo we took the road to Salem, which is where we were really wanting to spend a couple hours for shopping and hanging out. Returning to Tigard late that night we came home to the children being in bed and us adults stayed up and talked about our day and the things we saw!

We continued a lot of looking around and seeing Mt Hood, Multnomah falls and Starbucks! Yes Starbucks…we honestly saw at least 40 of them and sometimes 3 of them on a street corner in one day lol. We hit up the mall, (which I highly recommend) traveled, traveled, and traveled some more(600 miles more). It was sooooo much fun to be with my husband and travel to an unknown place and needing to rely on each other. We honestly have not met one MEAN person here in Oregon; everybody was kind and generous and more than willing to help a couple who has never been here before out. Everybody was asking about Williston and wanted to know if  that town was seriously booming like they have been hearing on the news! Well there is a summary of our Oregon trip and we hope to visit again sometime soon.

Ben & Kelly Engagement!!

So we haven’t shot a couple in the longest time and were super excited and yet very nervous to shoot this engagement session.  I paced back and forth for a half hour thinking of things that I need to be thinking about and poses that we should be using during the shoot.  Mandy (my super good looking wife), is always very excited and definitely helps me calm down ha.  She knows just what to do in those times.  Anyway I’ve known Ben and Kelly for a little over a year, and when they both asked us if we would shoot their wedding we were deeply honored!  Ben and I met through to worship night called One Voice Worship and later transformed into Threshingfloor Ministries where I led worship for a while.  I remember Ben always talked about this girl named Kelly and saw that the he really really liked her.  I think one time I told him that he needs to at least take her out, but little did I know he was already making his moves!  Few months later they were dating and now engaged!!  We love them so much and are so so very excited that they are getting married and taking that next step in their relationship!  We had a blast taking their engagements and honestly can’t wait for the wedding, I know its going to be an amazing time!  Congratulations guys!
